Design research plans - Analyze knowledge epistemological grounds on the basis of paradigmatic options - Evaluate the contribute and adequacy of qualitative and quantitative research approaches - Know how to design research proposals based on qualitative and quantitative approaches 2. Design / use methodologies and tools for data collection - Know sampling techniques - Develop tools for data collection (questionnaires, interviews, grids, ... ) 3. Analyze data and communicate results - Analyze qualitative data based content analysis procedures - Analyze quantitative data using statistical analysis - Interpret data - Communicate research results

- The Importance of Research in Education - Action research, knowledge and intervention in educational contexts - Ethics and professional issues in educational research Research Methodologies and Techniques of - Definition, delimitation and characterization of the object to be studied - Questioning of a theoretical question - Quantitative and qualitative methods -Selection methods and research techniques - Development and application of certain investigative techniques ◦ Interview ◦ Observation ◦ Survey -Analysis, interpretation and presentation of research data Methodology for presenting scientific papers - Structure of the work - Quotations and references - Bibliography - How to write scientific papers

Teaching methodologies (including evalution)

Theoretical analysis and practical exercises on topics related tothe research projects being developed - Monitoring (answering questions) students on issues addressed in the theoretical sessions - Debate moments for knowledge sharing on methodological issues and research EVALUATION Completion of a practical work, in groups, on the topics covered and objectives, integrating the contributions of the two investigative strategies to work (quantitative and qualitative), each the responsibility of a / the teacher (70%). Individual critical reflection so that students can reveal their theoretical knowledge on essencial topics of the curricular unit (30%), namely what they have learned and what they will do differentely, in future investigations, in what concerns: 1) paradigmatic options and research models and approaches; 2)design of research projects; 3) writing scientific work/paper.
