Learning objectives
1.To know the historical and conceptual evolution of the Development Theories applied to a community approach near territories; 2.To master the key concepts related to the problematic of Development (economic growth, social change, quality of life, strategic planning) and Community intervention; 3.To understand the importance of an integrated approach of the territory in the scope of an intervention on a community; 4.To understand the importance and necessity of a critical and reflective culture regarding Development in face of the Local level; 5.To promote a fieldwork with the objective of gathering information regarding the local level having in mind the construction of a local leadership for Development.

1. Preliminary questions about Development 1.1 Development, growth, social change and quality of life 1.2 Introduction to the development theories that have the a regional standpoint 1.3 Economic factors of development - the local level 1.4 Socio-cultural factors of development - the local level 2. Modernisation theory and community territories 3. The growing visibility of the Local Power serving communities 3.1 The crisis of the State and the emergence of the Local Power 3.2 Between local and global in the Late Modernity 4. Strategic planning and the creation of local synergies 4.1 Basic principles of Strategic Planning i n a community logic and risk prevention 4.2 Strategic planning, intervention projects, community intervention, local power, leaderships and local synergies.

Exposition Debate Document analysis Individual work Group work Fieldwork Description: The moments of an expositive nature will constitute starting points for the creation of spaces for analysis and consequent reflection about the thematics under exploration, either individually, in small groups, or in a large group. Evaluation and respective ponderation: Individual assessment: 100% of the evaluation of the curricular unit Individual work carried out based on a brief theoretical framework of the Problem of Local Development and with empirical collection of information from entities and Local Development dynamics through the technique of semi-directive interview.
