Learning objectives
1. Understand the complexities on the relation indvidual-community and society and its implications implications for intervention (understanding the nature of relations between individuals and communities from fundamental principles of social and community intervention; articulate those relations with society and its implications) 2. Analyze, in a critical way the needed adaptations of community intervention from differente paradigms of intervention (recognise the diversity of pardigms for community intervention and implications from an intervention standpoint; understading the main concepts of community intervention) 3. Analyze community phenomena from local/Community development perspective (recognise local development as a structurant factor) 4. develop critical thinking that enhance a profile of community intervention fit to societies nowadays

Syllabus
1. Individual and society: conceptual relations and main paradigms 1.1. risk and uncertainty soceties and the concept of bringing back communities? 2. Community intervention: a revision of elements of analysis 2.1. models of community intervention and citizenship 2.2. participation, endogeneity and autonomy 2.3. Action-research. Thoretical grounds of action-research, functions and practices 2.4. participatory diagnosis in community intervention: grounds and instruments 3. Territories and intervention 3.1. the city and tensions in and for communties 3.2. the city as an intervention system

Teaching methodologies (including evalution)

Theoretical classes are needed in order to understand the contents of the curricular unit. Moments focused on students in theoretical-practical lessons mobilise texts debated by students in small gorups. Paradgmatic situations are debated in the classroom form seminars and former students invited to perform them, thar make students question themselves and their practices. Individual work (80% of the grade) are discussed and proposed to students in tutorial moments that could be done collectivelly or individually. This is focused on the writing on community intervention principles that students should be abe to use in their thesis projects, helping to enhance the learnings of the curricular unit. 20% of the grade is attributed to students attendance and participation.
