Learning objectives
Distinguish between the mathematical knowledge from others of a different nature; Justify the importance of the resolution of problems in the development of the logic-mathematical reasoning; Justify problem-solving strategies: Explain and justify adopted strategies and used processes; Formulation and testing of suppositions: Formulation and testing of suppositions regarding simples mathematical situations; Expressing mathematical ideas: Expressing mathematical ideas and processes, orally and in writing, using the proper language and vocabulary; Understand the decimal numeral system; Understand the notion of a natural number; Understand the notion of a rational number; Understand the notion of a real number; Understand operations with different sets of numbers; Problem solving in numerical contexts; Assess and evaluate the reasonability of the results; Problems solving that include the proportional reasoning.

Teaching methodologies (including evalution)

Used strategies and resources: Presentation; Debate; Documental analysis; Group-work; Problems. The C.U. will be taught with theoretical presentations and practical applications concerning the dealt subjects, to which didactical materials, variant in nature, will be available. Also available to the students the worksheets with problems to be solved in group and, at the end, to have the solutions presented and discussed among the colleagues. Evaluation modes and correspondent reflection: 2 individual written tests (50% + 50%) The assessment of knowledge acquired will be based on the skills demonstrated by each student in two individual written tests.
