To acquire knowledges and conceptual frameworks about History and Cultural Heritage.
To analyze critically the development and to understand the challenges of society in a perspective of preservation of cultural heritage.
To understand the importance of promoting values, changing attitudes and behaviors in order to prepare children for the exercise of a conscious, dynamic and informed citizenship, facing the current problems.
To recognize the importance of studying History for the construction of national/local memory and individual/collective identity.
To acquire knowledge and conceptual and operational frameworks essential to a dynamic and critical learning.
To apply research methodologies in the context of History.
1. History, Memory, Cultural Heritage - concepts and perspectives
2. The ritualizations in History - celebrations and civic holidays - and the revival of the national and local memory.
3. The places of memory and its pedagogical interest. Local and regional heritage.
4. The myths and legends in Portuguese Histoy and Culture.
Teaching methodologies (including evalution)The theoretical classes provide the students the theoretical and conceptual frameworks necessary to develop autonomous thinking. In turn, the theorethical-practical classes, focused on the analysis of selected bibliography, contribute to promote in the future teacher the questioning and develop critical and reflective skills. The tutorial classes and fieldwork allow students to consolidate research methodologies and the practical application of knowledge.
Assessment and their weighting: an individual research work about one of the thematics studied in this curricular unit, inckuding written work (60%) and oral presentation in classroom (40%).
