Learning objectives
To recognize the importance of studying History for the building of national/local memory and individual/collective identity.
To understand the evolution, the characteristics and dynamics in different spaces of the national territory.
To acquire knowledge and conceptual and operational frameworks essential to a dynamic and critical learning.
To apply research methodologies in the context of History.
To promote the integrated acquisition of work-study methods using ICT.
Syllabus
1. The role of teaching History of Portugal in the building of memory and national identity.
2. The ritualizations in History - celebrations and civic holidays - and the revival of national and local memory.
3. The places of memory and its pedagogical interest. Local and regional heritage.
4. The myths and legends in Portuguese History and Culture.
Teaching methodologies (including evalution)
Theoretical classes provide students the theoretical and conceptual frameworks necessary to develop autonomous thinking. In turn, practical classes, focused on the analysis of selected bibliography, contribute to promote in the future teacher the questioning and develop of critical and reflective skills. The tutorial classes and fieldwork allow students to consolidate research methodologies and the practical application of knowledge.
Assessment: an individual research work about one of the thematics studied in this curricular unit. This work will constitute the scientific basis of the project to be done in the UC of Tteaching methodologies in History and Geogrphy of Portugal in 2nd cycle of basic education.Essential Bibliography (including ISBN)
